Policyholders recently received news that Fairway Physicians Insurance Co. RRG has filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy and are awaiting the final order for liquidation in accordance with the District of Columbia’s liquidation statute (Title 31, Chapter 13 of the DC code). Consistent with such filings, a “Stay Order” is to be effected on all litigation. This stay order is to effectuate a “freeze/hold on any litigation”, including any current litigation associated with ongoing medical malpractice claims submitted by policyholders.
Fairway’s Program Administrator, Thorson Specialty, has worked with its brokers to place most of the prior Fairway policyholders with AMS – yet another RRG.
